Qu'en est-il de la responsabilité des entreprises quand le réquisitoire en irresponsabilité est si édifiant. Les violences exercées à l'égard du travail, de l'environnement et des pouvoirs publics sont multiples, alors que la mobilité du capital accroît l'impunité des grands groupes. Quel est ce nouvel esprit du capitalisme qui, prônant la | bonne gouvernance |, voudrait ménager l'opinion et la réputation sans sacrifier les actionnaires. L'entreprise se trouve au cœur de contradictions dont elle s'accommode par un discours construisant notre manière même de penser la responsabilité. La responsabilité sociale nous renvoie aux problématiques de la | légitimation |. L'obligation légale de rendre compte publiquement (Publicité) des effets sociaux et environnementaux de son activité, se transforme en auto-promotion (publicité). Si le champ lexical de l'entreprise (responsable, citoyenne, éthique, transparente...) témoigne d'une dérive sémantique, notre objectif n'est pas d'apprécier sa sincérité. Il importe de considérer les communications organisationnelles qui se développent. Y a-t-il de nouvelles formes de communication ? Par quels auteurs et pour quels publics ? Modifient-elles la place des communicants dans les organisations ? Comment ces annonces ou ces engagements se traduisent-ils dans l'entreprise ? S'ajoute enfin un questionnement sur le ré-enchantement du monde économique et un possible changement de paradigme dans la communication d'entreprise.
